Partnerships
DRRA has never worked alone. For thirty years its work has been carried out with government, local partner organisations, international partners, companies and researchers. Its accounts are independently audited every year.

Partnership is more than funding
Every partnership category above can involve more than one kind of contribution:
How we strengthen small NGOs, community organisations and OPDs
Local organisations know their communities best but are often the last to receive resources. DRRAβs model helps them build the capacity, systems and relationships to lead, and then steps back: graduation, shared responsibility, handover and exit.
1. Identify
Find local organisations already trusted by persons with disabilities, including those too small to reach donors directly.
2. Assess
Look at governance, finance, safeguarding and programme quality, and agree what to strengthen.
3. Strengthen
Training, mentoring and on-the-job support for staff and boards.
4. Co-design
Design programmes with the organisation and the community, not for them.
5. Support
Funding, technical guidance and monitoring, with responsibilities written down.
6. Implement and learn
The organisation delivers; both sides review results and adjust.
7. Transfer
Hand over programmes, data and relationships with local government.
8. Sustain
DRRA exits and stays available as a peer.
What the record shows
From 2004 a DRRA National Coordination Team supported the capacity, networking and monitoring of local partner organisations. DRRA provided training modules, training of trainers and on-the-job training to partner staff. For many small partners, working with DRRA was their first experience of receiving and managing donor funds.
